Overview

Environmental Partners provided civil, environmental, and wastewater engineering services to LNR Development Corp., the developer for SouthField at the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station.  As part of our wastewater engineering services, we assessed the capacity of the Weymouth municipal sewer system to accept some or all of the flows from the redevelopment.  This exercise included a review of the hydraulic capacity of the collection system, and recent improvements to remove inflow and infiltration.

Approach 

We assisted LNR with the oversight of the design of an advanced on-site membrane bioreactor treatment plant with on-site disposal beds, and a groundwater discharge to French's Stream.  We have reviewed the previous consultant's preliminary design.  We also coordinated key meetings with MADEP during the preparation of the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) to determine their disposition on the proposed design.  We performed an independent review of an extensive finite element groundwater model.  Complex modeling is necessary to demonstrate that the estimated wastewater treatment facility discharge of approximately 1.5 mgd over 10 acres of disposal beds will not create mounding and breakout.
